We Got Decked!

Well I am very behind.  Things have been going crazy at the Cave house, so this will be a recap of our latest happenings.

To update the progress of the kitchen floor, we have all the tile in, grouted and sealed. We even got to put our oven and dining table in the house rather than the garage!  However, (we have come to learn that there is always a however) 2 of the tiles are loose and breaking out the grout around them, and several of our grout lines somehow bleached themselves and turned white.  Not appealing.  So, we need to figure out some solutions, but as of yet have not proceeded further.

Before we had the floor finished, Mom and Pop Cave came and visited for a weekend.  Well, when I say visited I really mean worked.  We are so thankful for all their help and knowledge.  They arrived on Friday afternoon and proposed to work on the deck for us.  What an unexpected blessing to get that project done!  John power washed the deck right away so it could dry over night, and then on Saturday they cut out the bad parts of the boards and replaced them, then we all went out and painted it.  It was really hot work, but with all of us went pretty quickly.  So in a very short amount of time, we got decked!

And did I mention that they also fixed our gate that wouldn't close?  I will say it again, those Caves are hard working folks!  I also sleep better at night knowing that our gate is no longer open to the public.

I mentioned earlier that we got the stove back in the house.  I also mentioned earlier that there is always a however involved.  It's a gas stove and when we took it out we messed up the gas hose.  We didn't want to take any risks with the gas so we had a plumber come reinstall it for us.  That's not all he did, though.  Tim is on the missions committee with a man who owns a plumbing company, so they had been talking about some of our issues.  Marc asked Tim to send him some pictures and then he and one of his men came and did some big repairs for us.  They reinstalled the oven, replaced the pipe from our master toilet which was leaking, and put a new pipe in for our A/C drain since it was connected to the hot water heater overflow and the pipe was on an incline.  We are so blessed by trustworthy people who help us so willingly and are great at what they do!
Cracked pipe
Tim found a friend under the house
I guess these pipes are somewhere under my house now
Hooray for PVC instead of cast iron!
The old pipe somehow ended up in the flowerbed
Our most recent adventure involved some unwanted guests.  They were a little to close to the front door for my taste.

That's the latest in regards to the house.  We got to do some traveling as well, so I will write about that soon.  Glad you were curious enough to read.
